The Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center's Neighborhood Nestwatch

Neighborhood Nestwatch is the citizen science program I run the Food web project through. Although I work in the Washington D.C. system, we have local programs in Pittsburgh, PA, Springfield, MA and Gainsville, FL as well.

The beginning of organized citizen science? This yearly event started in 1900 by Frank Chapman as a way for local birders to document the birds in their area in the winter season without hunting them.
